Dubai Christian Cemetery Rules
1) All burial formalities should be carried out in accordance with the rules & regulations issued
by the Government of Dubai. The caretaker will be forced to inform the Authorities of any
violations in this regard.
2) All Payments for watering of individual plants located on the graves, to be made directly to
St. Mary's Church, Dubai.
3) Construction of monuments should be as per the guidelines and specifications issued by
the DCCC & in a manner that does not interfere, obstruct or restrict movement to other
graves.
4) Please refrain from eating or drinking inside the prayer / waiting hall.
5) All garbage is to be disposed of in the trash bins located outside the gate.
6) Smoking inside the premises is strictly prohibited.
7) Please maintain silence at all times. Prior approval must be obtained for the use of any
sound system in the premises.
8) Respect the sanctity of other departed souls resting in the cemetery. Do not stand,
damage or desecrate other graves or monuments.
9) Toilets & washrooms are for the use of the faithful visiting the cemetery. Please keep the
washrooms clean after use.
10) Damage to property & equipment / material is not acceptable and will be liable for
penalties.
11) Kindly adhere to the instructions & guidelines of the caretaker at all times.
12) All complaints & suggestions can be forwarded in writing to St. Mary's Church, Dubai.
13) As per Government Authorities, the use of Cameras or Video Equipment is Strictly
Prohibited
Washing Facility Rules
To Prepare body For final prayers & burial
SERVICE-1
As a part of this service Cemetery Caretaker Team will provide the required sanitary items and
do the Body wash (Sponging only) / Dressing / Laying of the Body In the Coffin (Coffin to be
arranged by deceased family)
NB: This Service is available for deceased Male only
SERVICE-2
As a part of this service. Only the required sanitary items will be provided. Body wash
(Sponging only) /Dressing / Laying of body in the Coffin to be done by the deceased family
members. Coffin to be arranged by deceased family
NB: This Service is available for deceased Male & Female. The Family members to do the
necessary arrangements
RULES
1. Above services can be availed by doing appropriate payment in advance at the St. Mary’s
Church Parish Office Dubai.
2. Only 4 people from the deceased family are allowed inside the facility
3. As per the instruction from The Government Authorities of UAE. Any type of Videography
/Photography/ Live streaming is strictly prohibited. Any person noticed
doing so will be reported to the concerned authority.
4. Only sponging the body is allowed in this facility. Complete body wash is strictly prohibited.
5. This facility is made for your convenience. Please do not misuse it.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR BUILDING A MONUMENT GRAVE (ADULT MONUMENTS)
General Rules:
- For any construction of the monument on the grave of the deceased by the family members have to be requisitioned by a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Cemetery Committee.
- All detailed information of the buried person like Full name, nationality, copy of the death certificate, the date of the burial, plot number of the grave, (provided by the Dubai Municipality) and receipt (if any) to be furnished.
Regulations on Building the Monument:
- The builder/contractor should be approved and registered and hold a trade license issued by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce or any authorized government licensing authority.

The builder/contractor should have obtained prior approval from the Committee.

he design of the monument with dimensions clearly mentioned should be submitted on the letterhead, signed and stamped by the contractor.

All materials required for the construction of the monument should be brought by the builder/contractor. Removal of all debris from the cemetery is the prime responsibility of the builder and the applicant. Please note that there are no storage facilities available at the cemetery.

The Specifications and dimensions for the construction are as follows:
- Length - 160 cm including any foundation underground.

Width - 80 cm including any foundation underground.

Height of monument - 50 cm

The cross should be 3 feet in height or 92 cm from ground level.

The free spacing between the adjacent monument should be 1.5 feet (18") or 46 cm.

Access to personnel and vehicles into the cemetery are only through the main gate only. All vehicles are not permitted beyond the carpark area. The caretaker of the cemetery has the authority to deny access to any person or vehicle including the builders of the monument, if found to be without prior approval from the committee.
- The caretaker also has the authority to stop any construction that does not conform to the specific guidelines issued by the cemetery, as listed in the application.

Only 12 plants in removable pots are allowed to be kept around the monuments. Direct planting in the ground is not permitted at the cemetery. To avail the facility of watering the pots by the caretaker is available for a monthly charge of AED 100/- for a maximum of 12 pots only. All extra pots will be removed by the caretaker without notification.

Once the application (attached is the format) for building of the monument is approved, the Client or the contractor should place a security cash deposit amounting to AED 3,000/- (Three Thousand only) with the committee. A receipt will be issued for the same.

This cash deposit will be returned to the depositor after the construction of monument is completed, subject to:
a) Production of the original receipt.
b) No damages are caused to the adjacent graves and other property of the cemetery.
c)All waste materials have been removed by the builder/contractor.
If any condition (b) or (c) or both are breached, the cost of the damages and or the cost of cleaning the site will be recovered from the security cash deposit.
d) Construction of the monument should be completed within 30 days from the date of approval.
e) The final inspection and approval of the monument will be carried out by a member of the Cemetery Committee.

The payment to the monument builder/contractor is entirely the responsibility of the client who has entered into an agreement with the monument builder. No payment will be made out from the security deposit to the builder /contractor.

Above all points except 13,14 and 15 are to be followed for Temporary Tombs. If the monument is to be built by a builder/contractor who is not in the above list, the credentials of the proposed builder/contractor, needs to be presented to the committee for their prior approval.
RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR BUILDING A MONUMENT OVER
THE GRAVE (FOR CHILDREN BELOW 2 YEARS)
General Rules:
For the construction of a monument on the grave of the deceased, the family members need to fill up the application form (provided by the Church) and submit it to the Chairman of the Cemetery Committee. Detailed information of the buried person like, full name, nationality, copy of the death
certificate, the date of burial, plot number of the grave and a copy of the receipt should be provided
Regulations on building the monument:
The builder/contractor should have sufficient experience in building the monument, as per the guidelines (as below) laid down by the Committee:
All materials/equipment required for the construction should be brought by the builder/contractor. Please note that there are no facilities available at the cemetery site
The dimensions for the construction should be as follows (a)

Length - 100 cm.

Width - 60 cm.

Height - 50 cm.
The space between the adjacent monument should be at least 1.5 feet (18") or 46 cm.
The Cross should not be more than 3 feet in height (92 cm)
Only plants in removable pots are allowed around/near the monument. Direct planting is not permitted. By paying a monthly fee of AED 100/- , watering the plants is available. Please obtain a receipt from the Church Office
Access to the cemetery (+ for vehicles) is through the main gate only. The caretaker of the cemetery has the authority to deny access to any person or vehicles, including the builders of the monument, if they do not have prior approval. He also has the authority to stop any construction that does not conform to the specific cemetery guidelines, mentioned above
Payment:
Once the application is approved, the client/contractor should place a security cash deposit of AED 3,000/- with the Committee. A receipt will be issued. This cash will be returned to the depositor once the construction of the monument is completed subject to;
(a) production of the original receipt,
(b) no damages have been caused to the adjacent graves/property,
(c) all waste materials have been removed by the builder/contractor.
If condition (b) or (c) or both are breached, the cost to restore (b) and the cost to clean-up the grave site (c) will be recovered from the security cash deposit.
(d) Construction of the monument should be completed within 30 days from the date of approval.
The payment to the builder/contractor is the responsibility of the applicant who has entered into a contract with the monument builder. No payments will be made out of the security deposit to builder/contractor
